Invited by Charles Boyd, Head of History, to speak about the need for cross-cultural awareness and healing, because of the discrimination against, and misrepresentations of, Indigenous people and their traditional spirituality.

My lecture "Popular Media's Lack of Moral Accountability," illustrated media literacy concepts and practices to investigate the processes and outcomes of mainstream media, speaking not only as an educator yet as well as a veteran journalist.

 

Invitations to elementary and secondary school classrooms, talking with students as a media professional in journalism and documentary filmmaking, at several Toronto schools and, most recently, screening my film SOOP ON WHEELS in Bruce County, mid-western Ontario, at Kincardine Secondary School, in 2010, and at Sacred Heart Secondary School, in 2011, Walkerton.
